Guayaquil is one of the 24 most violent cities in the world

Guayaquil registered 1,537 murders in 2022. Its homicide rate was 48 per 100,000 inhabitants. Guayaquil ranks 24th in the list of the most violent cities of 2022, prepared by the Citizen Council for Public Safety and Criminal Justice of Mexico.

No operations at Guayaquil International Airport during the morning of July 19, 2024

The only runway of José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport in Guayaquil will be out of service for six hours next Friday, July 19, 2024, due to scheduled maintenance work. The closure will occur from 06:30 to 12:30. During these hours the airport will stay open for passengers but no airplanes will be able to take off or land.

We present the first part of the film filmed by Carlos Endara Andrade (1929) where he details his visit to Guayaquil. This is the expanded version of the historical description of the city with the contribution of historian Melvin Hoyos G. The film was rescued by the University Andina Simón Bolívar - Ecuador Headquarters, with the contribution of the M. I. Municipality of Guayaquil in 2019. The restoration and rescue of the film was in charge of filmmaker Alex Schlenker.
