El Comercio reports that the coronavirus pandemic has generated a growing demand for vacation villas in the Yunguilla Valley, located 55 km southwest of Cuenca.

The Yunguilla Valley has been a tourist destination for a long time, but there is a growing demand for vacation villas since the pandemic. The reason is the fear of contagion, which causes people to look for open spaces and nature.

The Yunguilla Valley has more than 100 villas, and people from Cuenca own the majority of them. Many villas have swimming pools, sports courts, green areas, barbecue, and fruit plantations (mangos, oranges, mandarines, etc.). However, almost all owners only want to rent their vacation villas to families, but not to groups of friends.
