Ensenada is located on the Pacific Ocean, about 125 km (80 mi) south of San Diego in the U.S.

See and Do

Ensenada is best known as a jumping-off point for the wine-making region Valle de Guadalupe. This region is 20 km (12 mi) from the city.

Off-road enthusiasts also use Ensenada as a starting point to explore Baja California.

Winter temperatures

In winter, the maximum temperature is about 20°C (70°F). Early in the morning the minimum temperature is usually about 10°C (50°F). Sometimes (but only in cold years), the minimum temperature can as low as 7°C (40°F).

Summer temperatures

In summer, the maximum temperature is about 25°C (80°F). The minimum temperature (early in mornings) is around 15°C (60°F).


Ensenada has a rain period that runs from December through March. Sometimes the rain can be heavy.


During the whole year, the humidity ranges between 65 and 75%. Because the temperatures are moderate, it doesn’t feel too oppressive for most people.


Ensenada offers modern shopping options. Costco, Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Home Depot all have stores in Ensenada. If something isn't available in Ensenada, you may travel to San Diego, which takes about 2 hours by car.




Ensenada is a borough of the Ensenada Municipality. The other borough of this municipality is Chapultepec.


Ensenada is locally called La Bella Cenicienta del Pacífico (the beautiful Cinderella of the Pacific).
