Stay authorization extensions and certificates of migratory movements
To apply for a stay authorization for tourists extension or to apply for a certificate of migratory movements you can visit Migration Office Manta without an appointment. There's also a migration office in Portoviejo that you can visit (Vía a Crucita km 2.5, next to the police station).
Tourist visa vs stay authorization
Many people mistakenly think they have a tourist visa. Often this is not the case. For an Ecuadorian tourist visa, you must submit documents to an Ecuadorian consulate. If you haven't done this, you do not have a tourist visa and you are most likely in Ecuador on the basis of a stay authorization.
Visas and ID-card orders
To apply for a visa in Ecuador, you'll need to visit a regional office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility. The Zone 4 office in Manta is the regional office for the Manta and Around region. You can make an appointment for a visa application on this website: Gestión de citas.
To obtain an ID-card order (orden de cedulación) as part of the application process for an Ecuadorian ID-card (cédula), you'll also need to visit this regional office. For this application you'll also need to make an appointment: Gestión de citas.
