Home to Quito's Mariscal Sucre International Airport: Tababela is a rural parish of Quito, but its identity is completely defined by being the location of the capital's massive international airport (AIAQ), which moved here in 2013.
A major hub for Ecuador's flower export industry: Due to its proximity to the airport's cargo terminals, Tababela is a crucial logistical center for Ecuador's world-renowned flower export industry. The surrounding area is filled with "florícolas" (flower farms).
Located in the warm Tumbaco Valley: Like Cumbayá and Tumbaco, Tababela is situated in the lower, warmer valley system east of Quito.
A parish transformed by the airport: The construction of the airport completely changed Tababela from a quiet agricultural village into a bustling hub of hotels, rental car agencies, logistics companies, and related services.
A blend of rural roots and global logistics: Despite the modern airport infrastructure, the parish itself still retains some of its rural character, with traditional homes and farms existing alongside massive warehouses and international hotel chains.
