Cuenca's Indepence Day on November 3 is the largest and most important celebration in Cuenca.
From early December to early January, the city is lit up with Christmas lights. Places not to be missed are the Tomebamba River and the Plaza Otorongo.
Cuenca's most impressive event is the Pase Del Nino Viajero, wich is a Christmas pageant that is held every year on Christmas Eve day. Thousands of children dressed in ornate customs participate in the pageant.
