El Vergel is a relatively safe neighborhood in Cuenca. Theft and break-ins are a problem, which is why almost all houses have high walls and fences. Cars are not parked on the street at night to prevent car theft. El Vergel is not free from robberies. Therefore, avoid empty streets early in the morning and after dark. There are reports of people being mugged while waiting for the bus in the evening.
