Application Procedures
You can apply for a digital nomad visa outside of Ecuador or in Ecuador.
Step 1: collect all required documents. You need to upload them further in the application process.
Step 2: register yourself on the (official) website Consulado Virtual.It's recommended to use Google Chrome as browser.
Step 3: start your visa application by logging in on Consulado Virtual. Select Trámites Consulares and on the next screen click on the button Aquí solicite sus trámites consulares.
Step 4: select the country from which you want to apply, the consulate or administrative unit (local office in Ecuador) that you want to use, and select visas as type of service. Answer the question Are you a handicapped person? with yes if you are a disabled person. You will then get a discount on the visa fee. In the tab Consular Procedures that appears below, you should select solicitud de visas.
Step 6: fill in all requested information on the next screen that appears. Select as type of visa residente temporal - rentista - trabajo nómada and select als activity to perform rentista trabjador nómada. Click next when you have filled in all fields.
Step 7: upload your documents on the next page that appears. Click send application when you have finished uploading all the required documents. An application confirmation and application number (número de trámite) will be sent to your email address.
Step 8: pay the application fee. To pay the application fee, first go to the website Consulado Virtual. After loggin in, click on the button Avisos del consulado para ti. Under in the screen will appear a link to you visa application. Click on the link and in the next page that appears click on Realizar pago / Make payment. You can now pay the visa application fee.
Step 9: schedule an appointment. Log in on the website Consulado Virtual, select the button Avisos del consulado para ti and click on the link to your visa application that will appear. On the new page that appears you can see your visa application. In the menu above select Agendar cita / Schedule an appointment. You can now select a data and hour for your appointment with the staff of the consulate.
Step 10: attend your appointment. You will need to bring all required documents.
Step 11: pay the visa granting fee. This is the same step as step 8. After paying the fee, you will receive an e-mail with your visa as pdf-document. You won't receive a phyiscal visa in your passport.
