Optional Documents

  1. Birth certificate: if from abroad: apostilled or legalized. If not in the Spanish language: notarized translation. US citizens: apostille from the Secretary of State in the state in which the birth certificate was issued.
  2. High school or college/university diploma: if you want an Ecuadorian driver's license. Some offices of the National Traffic Agency demand a diploma from a high school or college/university when you apply for an Ecuadorian driver’s license. If the diploma is from abroad it has to be apostilled or legalized. If not in the Spanish language: notarized translation in Ecuador. US citizens: apostille from the Secretary of State of the state where it was issued.
  3. Divorce certificate: in case you want to marry in Ecuador. If from abroad: apostilled or legalized. If not in the Spanish language: notarized translation.
  4. Spouse's death certificate: in case you are a widow and want to marry in Ecuador. If from abroad: apostilled or legalized. If not in the Spanish language: notarized translation.
